Gender-Based & Sexual Violence Prevention

Student Experience is a national leader in developing innovative initiatives and training to prevent gender-based and sexual violence (GBSV) and foster a culture of respect. Our flagship program, Mustangs for Consent, is mandatory for all incoming students and includes two trainings that equip students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a safe and supportive campus community.

Orientation Week

Student Experience, through the Student Engagement team, together with the USC, Housing, and campus partners, leads OWeek, a collaborative introduction to university life. Anchored by the Soph peer mentorship program, OWeek equips students with guidance, resources, and connections to help them feel welcome, supported, and ready to thrive from day one.

Parr Centre for Thriving

The Parr Centre for Thriving is helping Western become a national leader in student support and success by funding innovative, campus-wide initiatives that promote student mental health and thriving. Signature Experiences

In collaboration with Western International, Morrissette Entrepreneurship, and Western Research, Student Experience is advancing Western’s commitment to experiential learning through five signature pathways: education abroad, entrepreneurship, project based learning, research, and work integrated learning. Accessible across programs, these opportunities connect classroom learning with real-world practice, helping students build skills, explore their passions, and prepare for life after graduation.

Student Mental Health Strategy

Western's Student Mental Health Strategy provides a clear roadmap to strengthen mental health supports from 2025 to 2030. In its development, over 2,400 students and 950 staff and faculty shared their voices through surveys, focus groups, and individual consultations with the Student Experience team, ensuring the strategy reflects the needs and experiences of our campus community.
